The position:

The Spanish Curriculum Coordinator works closely with the Head of School to provide instructional leadership in Spanish curriculum and instruction in grades PK-12. While supporting the mission and strategic goals of Lycée International de Houston. The position will provide leadership and expertise in studying, evaluating, and implementing research-based curriculum and instruction; providing leadership in the development, articulation, and implementation of a cohesive Spanish instructional program; modifying or developing programming based on data trends and student needs; and assisting in the coordination of relevant staff development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
  • Advanced degree or certification in Administration, Curriculum (or related field)
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • International and/or independent school experience
  • At least 3 years’ experience leading and/or managing teams.
  • International and/or independent school experience
  • Experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching and/or school leadership experience

  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, administration, students, families, and key contacts at other organizations.
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the application of interactive methodologies and technology integration.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversee Spanish curriculum development and delivery to ensure harmonization and alignment throughout and between divisions.
  • Liaise with Cycle Coordinators and teachers to revise, develop and evolve a clearly articulated Spanish curriculum for the Early Learning, Lower School, and Secondary School
  • Meet consistently to plan with grade level and subject-specific teams.
  • Work with the Head of School to establish and direct a coherent curriculum review cycle that will ensure continual effectiveness, revision and alignment between programs and divisions.
  • Provide, coordinate and/or identify appropriate pedagogical support, development and training to teachers as needed.
  • Oversee the yearly acquisition of curricular materials.
  • Lead the review process for adoption of new Spanish curriculum materials and programs as necessary.
  • Keep abreast of new developments and trends in curriculum and instruction and incorporate them into the curriculum.
  • Analyze student performance data to guide curriculum and instructional decisions.
  • Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate collaboration, improvement, and innovation.
  • Assist in communicating information to parent and community members about the Spanish Program with clarity and accuracy.
  • Provide perspective and clarity for the Spanish Program to inform strategic priorities and broader instructional decisions between and within divisions.
