Admission Criteria

Admission Criteria

Admission to Lycée International de Houston is selective and based on a holistic review of each applicant. Our goal is to ensure a strong fit between the student, the family, and our academic program, supporting long-term success and continuity.

Aptitude and Academic Readiness

The LIH International Program is designed for students who demonstrate academic readiness and the ability to engage meaningfully in a rigorous learning environment. Instruction is delivered primarily in English, with structured study in French and Spanish, supporting multilingual development across grade levels.

Applicants are evaluated through academic records, assessments, and other relevant materials to ensure they can benefit from the program’s expectations and pace.

Character and Personal Qualities

LIH considers each student’s character, values, and interpersonal skills as part of the admissions process. Teacher recommendations, interviews, and, when appropriate, group visits help us assess qualities such as integrity, resilience, curiosity, and a positive approach to learning.

We seek students who will contribute constructively to the school community and engage respectfully with peers and adults.

Multilingual Interest and Engagement

Multilingual education is central to LIH’s mission. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in learning multiple languages and an openness to cultural exploration. Proficiency in one or more languages beyond the primary language of instruction is valued, though not required for admission.

Parental Involvement and Partnership

Lycée International de Houston believes that a strong partnership between school and family is essential to a student’s success. Parent involvement at LIH is guided by the school’s mission, vision, and core values of excellence, rigor, and kindness.

We seek families who are aligned with our educational philosophy, supportive of academic expectations, and committed to fostering a respectful, engaged learning environment. Parents are expected to collaborate constructively with faculty and administration, communicate openly, and uphold the standards and values that define the LIH community.

Through this shared commitment, LIH and its families work together to support student growth, continuity, and a positive school culture.

Non-Discrimination Statement

Lycée International de Houston admits students of any race, religion, national or ethnic origin, and socioeconomic background. Admission decisions are made without discrimination and are guided by alignment with the school’s educational mission and program expectations.
