About Lycée International de Houston:
The Lycée International de Houston, LIH, was established in 2017 by passionate individuals from different cultural backgrounds and founders who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community. Their goal was to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-growing multicultural global society. As the sole accredited 18-month through 12th-grade bilingual school in Houston, the Lycée International de Houston offers a unique dual-language immersion program in both French and English. By combining the analytical thinking methods of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) with the dynamic American Curriculum, the school remains dedicated to maintaining academic excellence. The Lycée International de Houston has obtained accreditations by esteemed organizations such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). Additionally, our school is affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).
The position:
Lycée International de Houston is seeking Physical Education Teacher Sports Coach School Year 2024-2025. We are looking for an energetic candidate, with excellence, rigor, and kindness as the core value at the Lycée International de Houston Bilingual School, our vision is to prepare multilingual, academically, and socially prepared students to become leaders and positively impact their communities. Creative teacher who will interact and will make a great impact on our students and colleagues in a professional setting and wants to become part of our LIH Faculty Team. Minimum Requirements:
- BA or equivalent in Physical Education (Preferred)
- International and/or independent school experience
- Three years’ experience teaching Physical Education
- Native English and French speaker proficiency
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Positivity, open-mindedness, and adaptability to a multicultural environment
- Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and diverse language and cultural backgrounds.
- Successful coaching/playing experience at elementary, middle, and high school levels.
- Work Authorization in the United States
Responsibilities:
- Teaching skills for multicultural school environment
- Communicate students’ progress with students and family on a weekly basis.
- Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and meet other student needs as required.
- Great classroom management skills
- High level of energy, creativity, and commitment
- Possess knowledge and ability to teach students current sports techniques and strategies.
- Ability to demonstrate skills in program development and evaluations.
- Be a model to exceptional sportsmanship.
- Be able to possess the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Conduct and organize practices, matches and competitive events.
- Instruct with sound principles and expert skills in all specified sports.
- Ability to develop a great learning environment, and positive relationships with students, parents, and co-workers.
- Experienced with creating and implementing lesson plans according to school curriculum assessing and evaluating students as necessary.
- Manage and monitor and always comply with all athletic department policies and procedures.
- Effectively teaching and following school guidelines
- Collaborate in events, duties and other school activities like open houses, parents’ meetings, field trips, fairs, exhibitions, and festivals.
- Additional responsibilities may include teacher weekly duties such as, for example, carpool, recesses, lunch duty, and after-school sport activities.
- Attending and participating positively in faculties, subjects, and cycle meetings as scheduled by Head of School.
- Promote the total athletic program and contribute to the expansion of the after-school sport programs.
- Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and adequately facilitate small and large group instruction.
- Minimum of 40+ hours spent at school per week.
Working Conditions:
Standing for long periods of time. Frequent stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing, relocating stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. The level of mobility required depends upon the grade level of teaching assignments(s) and requirements.
