About Lycée International de Houston: 

The Lycée International de Houston, LIH, was established in 2017 by passionate individuals from different cultural backgrounds and founders who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community. Their goal was to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-growing multicultural global society. As the sole accredited 18-month through 12th-grade bilingual school in Houston, the Lycée International de Houston offers a unique dual-language immersion program in both French and English. By combining the analytical thinking methods of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) with the dynamic American Curriculum, the school remains dedicated to maintaining academic excellence. The Lycée International de Houston has obtained accreditations by esteemed organizations such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). Position:  

Lycée International de Houston (LIH) is seeking a passionate and dynamic Secondary Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a love for teaching and inspiring students in a variety of scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, earth science, and/or computer science. This individual will bring expertise, creativity, and enthusiasm to the classroom, ensuring students are prepared for rigorous IB and AP exams while fostering a deep understanding of scientific concepts. Only candidates with relevant experience will be contacted.  

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field 
  • Valid Texas teaching certification with strong knowledge of TEKS standards 
  • Minimum five years of high school science teaching experience 
  • Experience teaching IB Science (SL/HL) and/or AP Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science) 
  • Proven ability to teach multiple science subjects across different grade levels 
  • Experience in international, bilingual, or independent school environments 
  • Bilingual proficiency in English  
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States 

The Role at Lycée International de Houston 

The Science Teacher delivers rigorous, inquiry-based instruction across multiple grade levels and science disciplines, preparing students for success in IB and AP programs while fostering scientific curiosity and critical thinking. 

Instruction & Curriculum 

  • Teach a range of high school science courses, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Systems 
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with TEKS and advanced IB/AP standards 
  • Design, supervise, and assess hands-on laboratory experiments, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols 
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including ELL and gifted students 
  • Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance instruction and student engagement 

Assessment & Student Support 

  • Evaluate student learning through formative and summative assessments, labs, projects, and exams 
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and regular communication with families 
  • Support student readiness for IB testing and college preparation 

Collaboration & Professional Engagement 

  • Collaborate closely with Science Department colleagues to ensure curriculum alignment 
  • Stay current with developments in science education and innovative instructional practices 
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives 
  • Contribute to extracurricular programs such as science clubs, fairs, robotics, or interdisciplinary projects 

Community & Physical Expectations 

  • Actively participate in school events including open houses, field trips, fairs, and exhibitions 
  • Supervise students and support school operations as needed 
  • Ability to move throughout classrooms and labs, monitor student behavior, and handle light instructional materials
