About Lycée International de Houston: 

The Lycée International de Houston, LIH, was established in 2017 by passionate individuals from different cultural backgrounds and founders who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community. Their goal was to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-growing multicultural global society. As the sole accredited 18-month through 12th-grade bilingual school in Houston, the Lycée International de Houston offers a unique dual-language immersion program in both French and English. By combining the analytical thinking methods of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) with the dynamic American Curriculum, the school remains dedicated to maintaining academic excellence. The Lycée International de Houston has obtained accreditations by esteemed organizations such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). Additionally, our school is affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE). 

Position: 
Lycée International de Houston is seeking a French Life and Earth Sciences (SVT) Teacher for the 2026-2027 School Year. We are looking for an energetic candidate who embodies excellence, rigor, and kindness—core values of the Lycée International de Houston Bilingual School. Our vision is to prepare multilingual, academically, and socially prepared students to become leaders and positively impact their communities. The ideal candidate is a creative teacher who will engage with students and colleagues in a professional, impactful way and become an integral part of our LIH Faculty Team. Only candidates with experience related to the position will be contacted.  

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s preferred) 
  • Minimum 5 years of Secondary teaching experience (6th to 12th Grade) 
  • Strong knowledge of the French National Education / AEFE curriculum 
  • Native-level French proficiency Bilingual in English 
  • Experience working in a multicultural and multilingual environment 
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills 
  • Basic proficiency with educational technology and digital platforms 
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States 
  • J-1 Sponsorship  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in an international or independent school 
  • Experience with FLE/EAL learners 
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and best teaching practices 
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based or international educational approaches 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English and familiarity with digital tools and platforms (learning management systems, electronic gradebooks, online instructional tools, and classroom technology)

The Role at Lycée International de Houston 

French Secondary Teacher at LIH are expected to: 

  • Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with the AEFE curriculum 
  • Teach French Life and Earth Sciences (SVT) 
  • Differentiate instruction to support FLE and EAL learners 
  • Create a structured, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment 
  • Assess student progress and communicate regularly with families 
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in faculty and cycle meetings 
  • Contribute to school life through events, supervision duties, and extracurricular activities 
  • Maintain professional, respectful collaboration across grade levels and disciplines 
  • Experience preparing students for the Brevet and Baccalaureate exams is expected. 
  • Candidates should prioritize the quality of their teaching and actively engage in the school’s quality-assurance initiatives.
