The Lycée International de Houston, LIH, was established in 2017 by passionate individuals from different cultural backgrounds and founders who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community. Their goal was to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-growing multicultural global society. As the sole accredited 18-month through 12th-grade bilingual school in Houston, the Lycée International de Houston offers a unique dual-language immersion program in both French and English. By combining the analytical thinking methods of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) with the dynamic American Curriculum, the school remains dedicated to maintaining academic excellence. The Lycée International de Houston has obtained accreditations by esteemed organizations such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). Job Description
Lycée International de Houston (LIH) is expanding and seeking a passionate and dedicated Elementary Homeroom Teacher (1st–5th Grade) for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum and a strong commitment to nurturing academically, socially, and linguistically prepared students in a multicultural environment.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Education, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of full-time elementary teaching experience (1st to 5th Grade)
- Strong command of English (native or near-native proficiency)
- Knowledge of and experience teaching the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an independent, private, or international school setting
- ESL or EAL certification/experience
- Familiarity with inquiry-based or international educational approaches
- Demonstrated proficiency with digital tools and platforms (learning management systems, electronic gradebooks, online instructional tools, and classroom technology)

The Role at Lycée International de Houston
Elementary teachers at LIH are expected to:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the TEKS curriculum
- Teach core subjects including ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of English as an Additional Language (EAL) students
- Assess student learning, monitor progress, and provide timely feedback
- Maintain effective classroom management and consistent expectations
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and share best practices
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and development
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
- Support school operations through supervision duties (arrival, lunch, recess, dismissal)
- Contribute to extracurricular and community activities as appropriate
