Web Developer/Marketing Coordinator

Job Overview:

Lycée International de Houston is seeking a versatile and highly motivated Web & Marketing Specialist to support and enhance the school’s digital presence, website performance, marketing initiatives, and event coordination. This role blends technical expertise in web development with creativity in marketing and communication. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in website development, digital advertising, CRM tools, social media strategy, content creation, and visual branding.

This individual will also support school events by assisting in setup and tear-down, capturing photos and video content, and uploading media to the school’s website and social platforms. Participation in event planning meetings is required.


Key Responsibilities:

Website Development & Management:

  • Design, code, update, and maintain the school’s websites using WordPress, Elementor, and cPanel.
  • Ensure functionality, accessibility, mobile optimization, and user-friendly design.
  • Develop custom solutions for school portals (Admissions, Accounting, Student, Parent, Health portals).
  • Regularly test and optimize the website for speed, usability, and security.
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA and web accessibility standards.

Developer – Web Systems

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance our custom-built school admission system, including dynamic forms and workflows.
  • Ensure system performance, security, and reliability across all devices and browsers.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize both backend and frontend components.
  • Collaborate with the Admissions and Marketing teams to implement new features and improve user experience.
  • Maintain documentation, perform updates, and manage version control.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS (especially with frameworks like Laravel, CodeIgniter, or similar).
  • Experience working with MySQL and custom database schemas.
  • Strong experience with Formidable Forms for building, customizing, and extending complex form-based workflows within WordPress.
  • Understanding of WordPress development, shortcodes, hooks, and plugins.
  • Backend integration, API consumption, and secure data handling practices.
  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub for version control.
  • Comfortable with server environments (cPanel, WHM, FTP, or VPS).
  • Ability to work independently, follow project timelines, and communicate effectively with non-technical teams.

Digital Marketing & Advertising:

  • Plan, execute, and optimize campaigns using Google Ads, Google Analytics (GA4), Google Tag Manager, and Meta Business Suite.
  • Track campaign performance and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Maintain and manage SEO strategies and performance reporting.

SEO & Analytics – SEMrush Expertise:

  • Proficient in SEMrush for SEO and digital marketing analysis
  • Conduct keyword research to support content strategy and PPC campaigns
  • Perform competitor analysis to identify market opportunities and threats
  • Monitor and improve organic search rankings through technical and on-page SEO audits
  • Track and analyze backlink profiles, domain authority, and SERP positions
  • Generate actionable reports on SEO performance and keyword trends
  • Use SEMrush tools for site audits, content optimization, and traffic analysis

Social Media & Content Strategy:

  • Manage and grow the school’s social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Create, schedule, and monitor posts; engage with followers and generate community engagement.
  • Align all digital and print content with the school’s brand guidelines.

Design & Visual Content:

  • Design flyers, brochures, social media graphics, and promotional materials using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and MS Office.
  • Capture and edit event photos and videos.
  • Upload media to the website and social channels promptly.

Event Support & Coordination:

  • Attend event planning meetings and collaborate with the Communications and Events teams.
  • Assist in setup and tear-down of school events (e.g., Open House, Winter Show, Graduation).
  • Document events through photos and videos for internal and promotional use.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with school administrators, IT, Admissions, teachers, and the leadership team.
  • Translate technical ideas into accessible language for non-technical staff.
  • Ensure consistency of brand messaging across all platforms and departments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Web Development, Digital Media, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in digital marketing and website management.
  • Proficiency in:
    • WordPress, Elementor, cPanel
    • HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP (preferred), Python (a plus)
    • SEO tools, GA4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Ads Manager
    • HubSpot or comparable CRM/email tools
    • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva
  • Experience managing digital ad campaigns and analyzing marketing metrics.
  • Experience with school or educational websites is a strong plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and a strong understanding of private school communications culture.
  • Bilingual (French/English) is a plus but not required.
