As part of our school’s implementation of the DP/ Diploma Program, the international DP consultant, Ms. Marilynne Sinclair, visited the Lycée International de Houston earlier on January 9 and 10, 2020, to share her expertise on implementing the DP curriculum.
Ms. Sinclair is originally from Montreal, Canada, and is currently an educator at Ashbury College in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She has been involved with the International Baccalaureate for a number of years.
With her extensive experience at IB schools, Ms. Sinclair will be giving her comments to the secondary school’s DP coordinator, Bruce Kirsch, and the school’s administration regarding the DP curriculum to be implemented for all our lower school grades.
Ms. Sinclair spent two days at the Secondary School visiting with students, parents, faculty, and administrators. She visited the Library and participated in the Café Galette.
The school also set up meetings for the consultant with the managing members members, separately to speak with them about their comments and concerns regarding the DP.
Here are just a few of the many positive comments shared by members of our community who met with Ms. Sinclair during her campus visit:
- A parent said that she has “an approachable nature” and is “relatable, intelligent, and a good listener.”
- A member of our faculty noted that she “has an impressive knowledge of IB philosophy and overall concept…is an open and thoughtful listener and a wonderful collaborator with the clarity to move the school forward.”
Finally, I am deeply grateful to the remarkable guidance and insight from Ms. Sinclair to steer us in the right direction, methodically evaluating all input and ensuring this most successful outcome. It was an honor to work with Ms. Sinclair on this important work as we secure the path forward for Lycée International de Houston IB Diploma Program authorization.
Dans le cadre de la mise en œuvre du Programme du Diplôme du Bac International (IB DP) de notre école, la consultante internationale en DP, Mme Marilynne Sinclair, nous a rendu visite, les 9 et 10 janvier 2020 pour partager son expertise sur la mise en œuvre du programme de DP au sein de lycée.
Mme Sinclair est originaire de Montréal, Canada et est actuellement éducatrice au Ashbury College à Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Elle est impliquée au Baccalauréat International depuis plusieurs années.
Grâce à sa vaste expérience des écoles faisant partie de l’IB, Mme Sinclair a fait part de ses remarques au coordinateur du DP du LIH, Bruce Kirsch, et à l’administration concernant la mise en œuvre du programme pour nos classes après la 3e.
Des réunions ont été organisées avec toutes les parties prenantes du Programme. Chacun a pu lui parler de ses préoccupations et recevoir ses conseils dans la plus grande simplicité.
Voici quelques-uns des nombreux commentaires positifs partagés par les membres de notre communauté lors de la visite de Mme Sinclair sur le campus :
• Un parent a dit qu’elle est accessible, intelligente et à l’écoute.
• Un membre de notre faculté a indiqué qu’elle « possède une connaissance impressionnante de la philosophie et du concept global de l’IB… qu’elle est ouverte et réfléchie et une merveilleuse collaboratrice qui explique avec clarté ce qui est nécessaire pour faire avancer l’école.
Enfin, je suis profondément reconnaissante aux conseils prodigués et à la perspicacité remarquables de Mme Sinclair pour nous orienter dans la bonne direction. Elle a évalué méthodiquement toutes les contributions qui garantissent un résultat.
Ce fut un honneur de travailler avec Mme Sinclair sur ce projet important alors que nous sommes engagés dans l’accréditation pour pourvoir dispenser le Programme du Diplôme au Lycée International de Houston.
