Our History


The Lycée International de Houston was founded in 2017, The founders are from various cultural backgrounds who felt that Houston community needed a ONE bilingual school which will prepare students for life in an increasingly multicultural international environment. The Lycée International de Houston is the ONLY accredited bilingual school in Houston that provides a dual-language immersion program in French and English. The Lycée International de Houston continues its long commitment to academic excellence using the rigors of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) analytical thinking paired with the dynamism of American Curriculum.


The Lycée International de Houston offers a unique personalized educational opportunity to students who wish to adopt ways of thinking and expression that reflect an appreciation for cultural differences and multiple world views. Our school’s state of the art technology classrooms facilitates the sharing of different viewpoints. Students develop the skills necessary to become lifelong learners. Students from all cultures and all backgrounds can benefit from the in-depth college prep curriculum we offer that promotes excellence in education with a global perspective from 18 months through 12th grade students. Students at LIH can choose to continue their studies in French and prepare for the French Baccalauréat (Le Bac), the International Option of the French Baccalaureate (OIB), the Franco-American Baccalaureate (Advanced Placement courses) or over the course of Grade 11 and Grade 12, students can earn the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma program. Both educational programs are highly regarded for their rigor and strength in preparing students for university and beyond.

Being bilingual is a most rewarding intellectual adventure for young minds. Becoming truly bilingual, especially in our culturally immersive environment, opens students up to other cultures in a genuine way. Students gain a deeper understanding of the values, beliefs and customs of other cultures and an ability to move seamlessly between them. The Lycée International de Houston is fully accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization and the French Ministry of Education. Our school also belongs to the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).

Our aesthetically impressive 10-acre campus is located in the heart of the Energy Corridor. Our unique location provides opportunities to equip students for success beyond the classroom. The chance to live, grow, and study in a diverse and multicultural environment is like no other.

The Lycée International de Houston (LIH) is an inclusive coeducational, preparatory, private school with a French-English bilingual program as its main track.

We welcome children from La Crèche from 18 months to 12th Grade who graduate with a minimum of two diplomas leading to greater opportunities for universities worldwide.
The Excellence of our entirely bilingual program, the Rigor of the curriculum as well as the Kindness of faculty and staff are at the foundation of LIH’s mission.

Our la Crèche (18 months) to High School (12th grade) programs provide opportunities for students learn through two languages and acquire the different thought processes unique to each language. As a result, they develop different ways to think, to process concepts, and to approach problems. LIH students also grow up within the context of our international community and develop a deep understanding and respect for other cultures. Their bilingual and bicultural experiences make them naturally open to new perspectives and ideas.
