FINANCIAL AID

Lycée International de Houston believes it is important to provide our innovative education to all children admitted to the school, regardless of their financial status.

The Lycée International de Houston accepts students on a “need-based” basis; we believe that tuition expenses should not be an impediment to enrollment. Through funds specifically set aside within the school’s operating budget, the Lycée International de Houston School offers financial aid to families who could not otherwise afford to enroll their children at LIH. Financial aid analysis provides a recommendation of what a family should reasonably contribute toward tuition.

FINANCIAL AID

Enrollment at the Lycée International de Houston is open to all students regardless of their financial background. We firmly believe that no one should be deterred from joining our school due to tuition expenses. To make education accessible for families facing financial limitations, we offer assistance through our dedicated funds within the school’s operating budget. Financial aid decisions are made after carefully analyzing each family’s demonstrated need and determining a reasonable contribution towards tuition fees. It is important to note that our focus remains solely on providing aid based on need and does not include academic or extracurricular scholarships such as athletics, afterschool programs, transportation services or language courses.

We understand that income alone cannot fully reflect a family’s ability to pay; therefore, our evaluation takes into consideration various factors beyond just income levels. We maintain strict confidentiality regarding all financial information provided by parents during the application process.

It should be noted that receiving financial aid in previous years does not guarantee continued support in subsequent years; families must re-apply annually and their applications will be reviewed based on their current financial status.

Families seeking financial aid will need the following documents to complete the form:

  • Applications submitted without documentation will not be processed.
  • Copies of your most recent tax return including all schedules.
  • Copies of the last three pay stubs of both parents.
  • If you are self-employed, you will have to provide your most recent federal tax return.
  • Families exempt from paying US taxes will need to provide a letter from their employer stating salary and benefits.
  • Copies of supporting documentation (social security income, welfare, child support, food stamps, workers’ compensation, and temporary assistance for needy families).

Bourses Scolaires

Families of French origin who currently reside in the United States are eligible to apply for need-based tuition assistance provided by the French government. This program, referred to as bourses scolaires, offers coverage of up to 100% of tuition costs. By promoting the enrollment of additional French native speakers, this initiative aims to bring advantages to all students involved.

The Bourses Scolaires program, overseen by the French government, provides financial aid to French families living abroad who have children enrolled with the Consulate. This initiative could cover a significant portion of tuition fees by addressing financial needs. The program’s main objective is to foster socio-economic diversity within LIH and encourage the enrollment of more French native speakers, ultimately benefiting all students.

In order to qualify for aid in the upcoming school year, new and returning families must submit an application annually. The deadline for submitting completed applications for the French Bourses Scolaires is February 17th, with all applications needing to be received by the French Consulate by that date.

Please note that in order to apply, your child must be registered with the French Consulate and must be at least 3 years old by December 31 of the year in which they will enroll. It is important to keep in mind that the timing of Bourses Scolaires is different from the timing of the LIH admission decision. You are required to submit a Bourses application to the consulate by their specified deadline. We strongly advise against waiting for the LIH admission decision before applying for Bourses Scolaires. To complete an application for bourses scolaires at LIH. For the most up-to-date information, please refer to the consulate’s website.
