About Lycée International de Houston:

The Lycée International de Houston is expanding and seeking a Personnel de Direction – Programme Français. Our vision is to prepare multilingual, academically, and socially prepared students to be leaders and positively impact their communities. Qualifications and Qualities

  • Master’s degree in Education or equivalent
  • Personnel de Direction Certificate
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in international school leadership
  • Preferred: 5 years of experience with the French Ministry of Education (AEFE), including teaching, development, and implementation of regulations
  • Proven leadership experience in France or abroad
  • Fluency in French and English (required)
  • Strong diplomatic, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Technology proficiency and ability to integrate technology in academics
  • Ability to motivate staff toward maximum productivity and effective use of resources

Curriculum and Academic Leadership

  • Lead and oversee the French academic program in alignment with the mission and vision of LIH.
  • A deep understanding of pedagogy, curriculum development, and educational policy.
  • Demonstrate collaborative leadership, working closely with and supporting the Head of School and colleagues.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for teachers and families.
  • Provide leadership for French curriculum development, review, and evaluation in accordance with the French Ministry of National Education.
  • Ensure the bilingual program effectively supports ESL and FSL students.
  • Oversee a coherent system for tracking and measuring student progress and performance, and communicate results to the school community.
  • Evaluate student achievement regularly and review student academic recognition.
  • Lead the French Ministry of Education accreditation processes of the school.
  • Monitor and support academic improvement through curriculum analysis, classroom observation, and student outcomes.
  • Mentors and guides teachers and other staff members, facilitating professional development and ensuring high standards of performance.
  • Oversee the provision of learning support and gifted/talented education.
  • Select and manage textbooks and educational materials, maintaining inventory according to curriculum requirements.
  • Facilitate parent and student orientation sessions, curriculum information presentations, and family engagement opportunities.
  • Promote and represent school programs within the school and broader community.
  • Support and enforce, in consultation with the Head of School, school-wide rules for behavior consistent with disciplinary policies.
  • Organize and participate in student activities (field trips, school events, and extracurricular opportunities).
  • Lead the integration of technology into teaching and learning, including researching and reviewing new educational tools to enhance instruction.
  • Responds to and manages unforeseen events or emergencies, ensuring the safety and security of the school community.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Oversee external exam targets and student college placement goals
  • Contributes to the school’s long-term vision, helping to develop and implement educational initiatives and projects. 
  • Lead official French Ministry meetings (conseil de classe, CVC, CVL, conseil pédagogique, etc.)
  • Organize official exams (Brevet des collèges, high school exams, etc.)
  • Assist HR with recruitment, supervision, and evaluation of teachers and substitutes
  • Manage student admissions processes, events, and family orientation sessions
  • Supervise student delegate elections (“délégués de classe”)
  • Oversee school events such as open houses, Pumpkin Patch, Egg Hunt, Le Kermesse, and more

Working Conditions

  • Standing for extended periods; frequent stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing
  • Handling classroom and educational equipment
