About Lycée International de Houston:
The Lycée International de Houston, LIH, was established in 2017 by passionate individuals from different cultural backgrounds and founders who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community. Their goal was to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-growing multicultural global society. As the sole accredited 18-month through 12th-grade bilingual school in Houston, the Lycée International de Houston offers a unique dual-language immersion program in both French and English. By combining the analytical thinking methods of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) with the dynamic American Curriculum, the school remains dedicated to maintaining academic excellence. The Lycée International de Houston has obtained accreditations by esteemed organizations such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). Additionally, our school is affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).
The Lycée International de Houston is expanding and is seeking a French Literature and French History Teacher for the Middle and High School levels. We are looking for an energetic, motivated educator who embodies excellence, rigor, and kindness, aligning with the core values of the Lycée International de Houston Bilingual School. Our vision is to prepare multilingual, academically, and socially adept students to become leaders and make positive impacts on their communities. Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree (preferred) in education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Education, French Literature, History, or a related field.
- International and/or independent school experience (6-12preferred)
- Minimum of three years’ experience teaching French Literature and History to middle and/or high school students
- Familiarity with or experience teaching the French National Education Curriculum/AEFE
- Native French proficiency
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Positivity, open-mindedness, and adaptability to a multicultural environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds
- Basic computer skills, including email systems, word processing, and educational platforms
- Work Authorization in the United States
Responsibilities
- Teach French Literature and French History to Middle and High School students in a multicultural school environment
- Design and implement lesson plans that align with the French National Education Curriculum
- Foster a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages critical thinking and a love for literature and history
- Differentiate instruction for EAL (English as an Additional Language) and FLE (French as a Foreign Language) students to meet individual learning needs
- Use technology effectively for teaching, communication, and enhancing student learning outcomes
- Assess and evaluate student performance regularly, providing meaningful feedback to students and their families on a weekly basis
- Maintain classroom management to promote a positive and respectful learning atmosphere
- Inspire students to appreciate French culture and history through engaging projects, discussions, and activities
- Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership in faculty meetings, grade-level planning, and interdisciplinary projects
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices
- Physically able to monitor and address student needs, move about the classroom, and facilitate small and large group instruction
Community and School Engagement
- Participate in school-wide events, including open houses, parent-teacher meetings, field trips, fairs, and exhibitions.
- Contribute to extracurricular duties such as carpool supervision, lunch and recess monitoring, and after-school study hall support.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to monitor and manage student discipline and progress actively.
- Capable of moving about the classroom to engage students and facilitate activities.
- Physically able to lift and carry light classroom materials as needed.
