About Lycée International de Houston:

The Lycée International de Houston, LIH, was established in 2017 by passionate individuals from different cultural backgrounds and founders who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community. Their goal was to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-growing multicultural global society. As the sole accredited 18-month through 12th-grade bilingual school in Houston, the Lycée International de Houston offers a unique dual-language immersion program in both French and English. By combining the analytical thinking methods of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) with the dynamic American Curriculum, the school remains dedicated to maintaining academic excellence. The Lycée International de Houston has obtained accreditations by esteemed organizations such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). Additionally, our school is affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).

Position:
Lycée International de Houston is seeking a French Biology/SVT Teacher for the 2025-2026 School Year. We are looking for an energetic candidate who embodies excellence, rigor, and kindness—core values of the Lycée International de Houston Bilingual School. Our vision is to prepare multilingual, academically, and socially prepared students to become leaders and positively impact their communities. The ideal candidate is a creative teacher who will engage with students and colleagues in a professional, impactful way and become an integral part of our LIH Faculty Team. Minimum Requirements:

  • BA or equivalent in Education (Preferred)
  • International and/or independent school experience
  • Three years’ experience teaching French in a K-12 school (preferred)
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the French National Educational Curriculum and AEFE Curriculum
  • Native French proficiency
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Positivity, open-mindedness, and adaptability to a multicultural environment
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues from diverse languages and cultural backgrounds
  • Basic computer skills, including using the internet, email systems, Microsoft Word, and other educational technology platforms
  • Work Authorization in the United States

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching effectively in a multicultural school environment
  • Communicating students’ progress weekly with students and families
  • Bringing high energy, creativity, and commitment to the classroom
  • Using technology as an educational and communication tool, including online learning platforms, to improve student achievement
  • Demonstrating excellent classroom management skills
  • Creating a positive and engaging learning environment while building relationships with students, parents, and co-workers
  • Collaborating professionally and respectfully with other primary teachers and staff
  • Differentiating instruction for EAL (English as an Additional Language) and/or FLE (French as a Foreign Language) students
  • Developing and implementing lesson plans according to the school curriculum, assessing, and evaluating students appropriately
  • Teaching the French Program curriculum following school guidelines, including lesson preparation and student evaluations
  • Participating in events, duties, and school activities such as open houses, parent meetings, field trips, fairs, exhibitions, and festivals
  • Taking part in weekly duties such as carpool, recess supervision, lunch duty, and after-school Study Hall FLE/Homework support
  • Attending and contributing positively to faculty, subject, and cycle meetings as scheduled by the Head of School
  • Monitoring student discipline, progress, and needs in a physically active manner
  • Facilitating small and large group instruction effectively and interactively
  • Committing to a minimum of 40+ hours per week spent at school

Working Conditions:

Standing for long periods of time. Frequent stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing, relocating stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. The level of mobility required depends upon the grade level of teaching assignments(s) and requirements.
