The Lycée International de Houston, LIH, was established in 2017 by passionate individuals from different cultural backgrounds and founders who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community. Their goal was to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-growing multicultural global society. As the sole accredited 18-month through 12th-grade bilingual school in Houston, the Lycée International de Houston offers a unique dual-language immersion program in both French and English. By combining the analytical thinking methods of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) with the dynamic American Curriculum, the school remains dedicated to maintaining academic excellence. The Lycée International de Houston has obtained accreditations by esteemed organizations such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS). Additionally, our school is affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).
Job Description
Lycée International de Houston Pre-School Section is seeking Homeroom Pre-School Teachers (PK2-PK4) for the 2025-2026 School Year. Lycée International de Houston is looking for an energetic candidate who embodies excellence, rigor, and kindness. As part of our bilingual school, our vision is to prepare multilingual, academically, and socially prepared students to become leaders and positively impact their communities. We seek creative teachers who will interact meaningfully and make a lasting impact on our students and colleagues in a professional setting. Minimum Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent in Pre-School Education with Early Childhood Certification.
- International and/or independent school experience (preferred).
- Three years’ experience teaching English in a Pre-School setting (PK2-PK4 preferred).
- Early Childhood Certification.
- Native English proficiency. Spanish a plus.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Positivity, open-mindedness, and adaptability to a multicultural environment.
- Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues from diverse languages and cultural backgrounds.
- Basic computer skills (e.g., use email systems, create word processing documents, and open attachments).
- Positivity, open-mindedness, and adaptability in a multicultural environment.
- A love and enthusiasm for teaching young children
- An interest in early childhood development

Responsibilities
- Teaching and Instruction
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the school curriculum.
- Teach foundational literacy, numeracy, science, and arts concepts appropriate for Pre-School learners.
- Adapt lessons to meet the needs of native and non-native English-speaking students.
- Classroom Management
- Create a positive, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment.
- Use effective classroom management strategies to foster respect, collaboration, and focus.
- Student Development
- Monitor and support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
- Differentiate instruction for individual students based on their unique learning needs.
- Conduct formative and summative assessments to evaluate progress.
- Parent and Family Engagement
- Communicate students’ progress regularly to parents and guardians through conferences, written reports, and informal updates.
- Build positive relationships with families to support student success.
- Collaboration and Professional Development
- Work collaboratively with French Pre-School colleagues to align teaching practices and share resources.
- Participate in faculty meetings, subject-specific training, and professional development opportunities.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Supervise students during non-instructional times such as lunch, recess, carpool, and nap times.
- Contribute to school-wide events such as open houses, parent meetings, field trips, fairs, and festivals.
- Provide after-school ESL or homework support as required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to monitor and manage student discipline and progress actively.
- Capable of moving about the classroom to engage students and facilitate activities.
- Physically able to lift and carry light classroom materials as needed.
